An Epic!

This morning as i was driving down to office thinking about what to write as there were many things in my mind, i decided once again to write about my experiences in Mumbai. No no ....this time its not about the place. Its about a very special person whom i met out there!

I always ask my mom (my best friend) as to why we (my bro & me) were brought up with so many values , culture and simplicity that we find it so difficult to be too pushy, tough and self-centered in this kalyug. Although we stand out of the crowd where ever we go, we cant just be pompous.

Untill the age of 23, i never ever met another person like this. It was in Mumbai that i saw all this plus plus plus more virtues in another person, KJ Sir, a 44 year old composed person. He was , is and will be my boss.

I never though it was possible for anybody to climb such great heights with a nature like his. When i found the opportunity to be with him in some industry meetings where all the CEO's met to dicuss issues, it only KJ who used to give a speech with no flowery language, no marketing tactics, no false accent and not even a blazer.... shall i say he is like Mahatma? Well ..... if i am not trying to sound falunty. He is the Mahatma who i've met in person!

He says "i always use a butter knife in life". He has never been rude to any of his employees... even when he recieves a phone call in the midst of a conversation with a much lower level employee, he always says sorry. Are'nt these things so unheard and unseen these days? i've heard that his goodness has transformed many people in the organisation.

Oh... i remember the day when he wanted me to be in office at 7.30 am to produce some new clipping in court and so he gave me a call t 6.45 saying 'by now you should have left home'. Would any boss do this? I have only seen bosses who accuse their employees of not having obeyed orders.

And talking about his memory power.... he is that pakka brahmin who is so so so intelligent. He says 'i have a elephants memory and thats why i am here'. Nobody can follow up things the way he does.

Can you believe that in an organisation of over 2000 employees, none have a single complaint against KJ? Well.... not because they fear him, but because they respect him and value him a lot. Infact all my skills of making fun of teachers and professors which i developed over years came to an END!

Today although i dont work directly under him, i feel so guilty even if i am late to office by 10 mins. Cos i know KJ would not appreciate that although he has never told me anythings about it.

Though i worked with him for a very short period, not a single day now passes by without remebering him.

He is really an epic in the unrelenting cable industry.

Mumbai mere jaan !!!

Its more than a month since i came back from Bomaby (the city that never sleeps), but i am still unable to settle down here in Chennai. Although i've been in Mumbai only for two years and was born, brought up and educated in Chennai, its really difficult to not miss Mumbai.

I am not one among those who boast abt the US after living few years over there. I know of my cousins who cannot stand the smell of India as they come out of the airport. I am definetly not one of those...

But whts so special abt Mumbai then... ppl call it a very poluted and crowed city? Well... it is ! But wht i love, adore and cheerish abt Mumbai is the so called 'Mumbaikar sprit'. Yes... its city ruled by the public in the true sense of democracy, i shud say. Be it rain ot shine or even a major blast right under their nose, the spirit and ethusiasm of bombaites will never die.

They rule the city so even the political leaders and government officials do their duties up to the mark. All activities starting from laying roads, cleaning the drainage system, traffic regualtion or even transport problems are all completed on time. The mumbaikars keep the officials on their toes 24x7.

Even the Autos, Taxis all of them run properly on meter basis. No cheating wht so ever.

But namma Chennai.... politics every where!
The media which so so poweful and inevitable in the progress of Mumbai is again a mouth piece of the poloticians in Chennai.

I realy want to do something abt this. Chennai has got a lot of brain wealth, so if we jus chuck all these politicians out , we cud do wonders.
