Hats off to the Director, Vasantha Balan for such a brilliant attempt in showcasing the realities of those young boys and girls who work as sales people in the ever crowded multi-storied shops of T.nagar. Their miseries are unknown to Chennai-ites themselves. And if you're a Chennai-ite, you must appreciate this filmmaker for this bold attempt. The cruelly of the shop keepers who are their bosses, miserable living spaces, ill-treatment at work, poor salaries and humiliating dialogues of store managers are very well depicted. This is a film with no commercial element in it. The emotions of the characters are very well portrayed especially that of the little girl in the village, the hero’s sister asking for a shopping bag that is carried by a couple at the bus stop. The bag bears the name of the shop 'Senthil Murugan stores' in which her brother’s works. This event brings out the love of a little sister who longs for her brother who is the bread winner of the family.
The cinematography is awesome and the framing of each and every detail on the crowded ‘Ranganathan Street’ definitely needs to be applauded. Selection of cast of this subject is excellent. The dialogues are powerful and fantastic. I will call this film an award material!
On the whole, 'Angadi Theru' is a great treat to those who are slowly giving up hope in Kollywood directors. Tamil cinema can certainly regain its charm and class in the coming years, let’s be hopeful.
