Angadi Theru, an award material!

After being disappointed watching a whole lot of flops, I finally got to watch a good Tamil movie this weekend. Angadi Theru, a realistic film representing the pitiful lives of those salespersons who are employed at the large textile showrooms in T.Nagar, was a big reassurance of the fact that Tamil directors can make sensible and rational movies. It’s been really long since I saw a good Tamil film after Mozhi and now I was pleasantly surprised with ‘Angadi Theru’, a classic film.
Hats off to the Director, Vasantha Balan for such a brilliant attempt in showcasing the realities of those young boys and girls who work as sales people in the ever crowded multi-storied shops of T.nagar. Their miseries are unknown to Chennai-ites themselves. And if you're a Chennai-ite, you must appreciate this filmmaker for this bold attempt.
The cruelly of the shop keepers who are their bosses, miserable living spaces, ill-treatment at work, poor salaries and humiliating dialogues of store managers are very well depicted. This is a film with no commercial element in it. The emotions of the characters are very well portrayed especially that of the little girl in the village, the hero’s sister asking for a shopping bag that is carried by a couple at the bus stop. The bag bears the name of the shop 'Senthil Murugan stores' in which her brother’s works. This event brings out the love of a little sister who longs for her brother who is the bread winner of the family.
The cinematography is awesome and the framing of each and every detail on the crowded ‘Ranganathan Street’ definitely needs to be applauded. Selection of cast of this subject is excellent. The dialogues are powerful and fantastic. I will call this film an award material!
On the whole, 'Angadi Theru' is a great treat to those who are slowly giving up hope in Kollywood directors. Tamil cinema can certainly regain its charm and class in the coming years, let’s be hopeful.

Catching up....

Often in life we continue living with a lot of guilt. Sometime its accidental and cannot be avoided but most of the time it’s because we do not give it a serious thought or due consideration.I am so guilty of not doing justice to my MBA. Gotta complete this somehow, but am nowhere close to figuring out how? Similarly, am so guilty of not reading enough, not waking up early in the morning so that I can catch up on reading, exercise etc.

On top of my guilt list is – Not updating my dear dear dear blog, the space that I created for myself in this world with a lot of passion! Though I have many many things in mind which I would like to write about and express, its just not happening. But this guilt is causing a lot of stress in my mind and I’ve decided to give it my best shot. So here we go with some updates…

Having moved to ECC, there are many good things happening in life. I’ve completed several projects in these three months. The most remarkable achievement being – ‘Reflections’, a booklet on ECC’s Recreation Club activities and a souvenir called ‘Art Heritage of India’ comprising of paintings by a well-known painter Mr.Rajam (my boss’s Mama). These books were released at an event by L&T’s CFO Mr.Y.M Deostalee. It was a moment of pride! In the beginning of last month, I had the opportunity to travel to Delhi to visit DIAL- Delhi International Airport Limited. Needless to say, it was a amazing experience.

ECC is buzzing with activity all the time. The campus is amazing with its award winning huge buildings and it’s a great feeling when you walk into this place every day (though I always wish to be paid a little more). Invariably there is some inauguration, stall, mela, carnival, health check-ups etc happening all the time around the campus. Above all, the food here is pretty good. Soups, veggie salads, fruits, butter milk….quite a balanced and nutritious meal at a really subsidized cost.

I’ve become a member at PRSI (Public Relations Society of India) and managed to attend two meetings successfully (one of the advantages of being a part of a large organization where the company bears your membership fee). So life is all smooth and peaceful. Am working very hard at work and am proud about it !
